Love Letters
by A R Gurney

Auditions to be held at the Carterton Courthouse, Holloway Street on Tuesday 17th December at 7.30pm. First time and well seasoned actors are equally welcome.
For those thespians with too little time to learn lines and attend rehearsals several times a week, we think that “Love Letters” by A R Gurney is the ideal type of play – no lines to learn and very few rehearsals.
There will be 6 or 7 performances over the 2 weeks 8 – 22 March 2020.
If you are interested but are unable to make the auditions please contact Margaret Jesson:

Penalties, Pints and Pirouettes
by Neil Troost
Director Margaret Jesson

We propose to produce this play for our June/July season next year.

Cast required are 8 men and 2 women. Cast members are not required to be good at rugby. In fact, it really wouldn’t help.

The small New Zealand town of Maungakaka has probably the worst rugby team ever. It wasn’t always that way. Now their rival team, Hillcrest, is pressing them hard to amalgamate, to create one strong team. The guys, however, are really more interested in their annual rugby trip – not for the rugby, but more for the male bonding over a ‘few’ beers and to get away for a while.
Their wives have other ideas and insist that, if the men want their trip, then they will have to take part in the local PTA fundraiser. That’s where the pirouettes come in, tutus and all. Throw in a gay male dance teacher and you have an hilariously funny New Zealand comedy, that will have audiences in stitches.

Any actors keen to audition for this play, can express their interest now, so that we can ensure that they are made aware of auditions, when they are organised.

Express your interest by contacting the director Margaret Jesson directly or 027 599 9609.

As are first time directors, school groups and unpublished works. Projects from drama class projects can be entered and make great theatre.

Opportunities for Directors

Limelight is assessing options for next year’s programme of full length plays. We currently have reservations at Carterton Events Centre for 3 production seasons:
8th March to 22nd March
21st June to 5th July
21st September to 4th October

We are keeping the March and September seasons open, to give directors looking for somewhere to produce a play, the opportunity to fill these slots. The June/July season is currently allocated, pending casting, but could also be available should we be unable to cast the proposed play.

If you, or anyone you know, is keen to produce a particular play, but has nowhere to perform it yet, then please contact Margaret on or call or text her on 027 599 9609.

We will want to know details of the proposed play (Title, Author, synopsis, cast requirements, set, lighting and effects required) and a brief summary of your directing experience.

New directors might be asked to accept mentoring from an experienced director.
